I approach the beginning of a painting in vastly different ways depending on my mood and my goal, but they all share a similar outlook on composition—built around creating a powerful sense of focus. A simple idea but always challenging to accomplish. The approach used for this painting is an example of my more traditional, orderly, and observational method.
